Children will discover a very different school environment
All children in England and Wales are beginning to return to school: they will find that regular hand washing will be a vital part of every school day, according to a recent report on the I News website.
The advice for everyone is the same says the article, which quotes a clinical director and consultant paediatrician at the Children’s e-Hospital. Dr Tim Ubhi is reported as saying “…the advice is the same for everyone: be sensible, encourage good hygiene and if a child develops symptoms, keep them home”.
The focal point of the article is the back to school preparations that have been made by Outwood Academy Adwick which has placed hand hygiene to the fore of its safety preparations, which include keeping doors open in order to reduce touch points, grouping pupils in classroom bubbles of thirty and ensuring that they have their own desks and stationery.
“Student hygiene is also of paramount importance, with newly installed outdoor basins encouraging regular hand washing.”
Children being encouraged to wash their hands
Meanwhile, the Coventry Observer has stated in an editorial Safety first as children return to classrooms that all children will be instructed to wash their hands on occasions throughout the school day, stating that
“Public Health England experts are clear that the risks of catching coronavirus are low if schools apply systems of control including regular hand-washing and cleaning measures, staggering break times and closely following government guidance.”
