Hand washing at the point of need is the key
Four mobile sinks were deployed at West Suffolk hospital as part of a highly effective hand washing campaign by West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds, which was highlighted in a recent ITV News report.
The campaign, “Staying well this winter”, clearly demonstrates to the entire hospital community how easy it is for infection to spread – and why washing hands with soap and water is the single most important way of controlling the spread of infection.

The article advises that “Experts in infection control say simply washing our hands properly will stop things like the flu or even the more severe norovirus, from spreading.”
The Interim Chief Nurse at West Suffolk Hospital, Rowan Procter emphasised how important effective hand washing is to everyone.
“We need to think of different ways of how we can prevent continuous spread, hand washing is key for all of us, for all of our staff here as well as our relatives, patients and visitors that are coming into our organisation.”
